On March 29th, 2019, Pascal Lagerweij defended his MSc thesis Reinforcement Learning in Block Markov Chains. His committee consisted of prof.dr.ir Piet Van Mieghem, dr. Matthijs Spaan, and myself (as daily supervisor). Pascal joined our research group Network Architectures and Services on May 22nd, 2018.
The book Perfectly Reasonable Deviations from the Beaten Track: Selected letters of Richard P. Feynman, by Richard Feynman and Michelle Feynman, was kindly gifted to me after my promotion. I have finally gotten around to read it, and am sharing my opinion.
I defended my thesis Stochastic Optimization of Large-Scale Complex Systems on January 28th, 2016 at the Eindhoven University of Technology. The defense was a great experience, and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as a PhD student. The colleagues at the Stochastics Operations Research group and EURandom were great, and I’m also especially grateful to my supervisors Johan van Leeuwaarden and Sem Borst for all the unique opportunities.
